Webmaster DES

Apparently I like to create websites. I just recently decided to get business Internet which basically allows me to host websites and email at home. I did this because I was paying someone to host a website for me... www.stonebuilder.ca ... and I wanted to help Michelle with some marketing so I figured she should have a website too. So I got it set up for the most part. Some things are still working themselves out, like transferring my website from the old server to the new one, and I am working on Michelle's new website. The name of her business is Michelle's Muzik and so we are building a site called www.mymuzik.ca I would be interested in your thoughts on the site. Mostly I am looking for some constructive criticism. Since it is still a work in process, it is not complete by any means, but I am looking for advice or comments about the layout and such.

Let me know what you think.

By the way, if you want to host a website, I would be more than willing to host it for you for a very minimal charge (basically just to cover costs).

Hey David! It's been a week or two since I last checked out your photography site, and I just wanted to say that it's looking really good! The pictures are looking great! I like the way you're displaying them. The only two things I would suggest on that site, would firstly just to keep adding pictures, really of anything, even architecture around the city to show case your creativity, and I think it might be neat to have a picture of you and Michelle and a brief bio, something that makes you seem really personable.
On Michelle's site I'd also consider a bit more bio info on her, video clips of her teaching, photos of her teaching, and a pic of her with her bio. And I don't have sound on this computer (so maybe you have this already), but possibly having a recording of her playing in the background while people look at the site (maybe you have that and I am just not hearing it because of my lack of speakers!). And graphically you might want to consider something muscial looking. I'm not sure what, maybe even cool photography of pianos ?? Sheet music? I'm not exactly sure what.
It's really neat to watch things develope!

Great comments. I have been struggling lately with Michelle's website. I am trying to connect the site with a database. Hmmm not sure what I am doing wrong but it isn't working. Kate, I would love to meet the boyfriend. I liked the site he did for you. My skill lies only in HTML and I am not overly creative. Flash is cool, and it would be good for Mich's site.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

On the music site (I refuse to spell it muzik... I can't stand misspelled words), you should have some links to recordings of Michelle playing music.

In fact, you could even make it as a Quicktime or Media player video and embed it in the web page. Better yet, upload it to Youtube and then simply link to that URL.
